STRENGTHS: Big size & frame...Cannon arm...NFL zip...Good pocket presence...Nice footwork & mechanics

WEAKNESSES: Streaky accuracy & touch...Questionable QB intelligence...Raw decision making...Inconsistency

OVERALL: A three year starter, Josh Freeman was a top quarterback prospect out of high school and shocked many when he chose to attend Kansas State. He was thrown into action immediately and started the final eight games in 2006. Freeman earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore, starting all 12 games. He started every game as a junior as well, but his stats were down, which might have also been an indication of the lack of help around him as he lost Jordy Nelson for the 2008 season. Freeman is a physically impressive prospect with excellent height, build, and frame. He has very good field vision and survey the field. Freeman has great arm strength and shows terrific zip on his throws. His accuracy is streaky and doesn’t show the touch of a starting NFL QB. Freeman looks the part in the pocket and has nice composure and presence. He is an above average athlete and has the mobility to make plays on the run. Freeman is a very hard worker and has the work ethic off the field to continue to improve. His decision making is inconsistent and he will make a lot of throws that has coaches scratching their head. Freeman has somewhat of an elongated delivery and needs to show a quicker motion, but has excellent footwork and natural mechanics. He played in a pro-style offense in college so he has experience dropping back from under center. Freeman could have used another year of seasoning, but has 32 starts under him, which is twice as many as Mark Sanchez has.

BOTTOM LINE: A JaMarcus Russell-clone, Freeman looks the part and has the arm strength that cannot be taught, but has several questions, including if he has the necessary talent between the ears.
