SCOUTING REPORT

STRENGTHS: Outstanding college experience & production...Smart & student of the game...Poised & clutch

WEAKNESSES: Doesn’t have elite arm strength...Streaky accuracy...Slim frame...Struggles from under center

OVERALL: One of the most productive college quarterbacks of all time, Graham Harrell is the best quarterback that Mike Leach has had while at Texas Tech. He saw significant time as a freshman and became the full-time starter as a sophomore. Harrell thrived in Leach’s offensive system and compiled a career TD/INT ratio of 134/33! He was a Heisman Trophy candidate his senior season before struggling down the stretch, most notably against Oklahoma. Harrell’s best moment in college came against undefeated Texas in Lubbock when he led his team down the field to victory, ending in a sideline pass to Michael Crabtree to win the game. He has an average arm, but his lack of NFL arm strength is obvious as he doesn’t possess the zip to make all the throws at the next level. Harrell has decent accuracy, but will float the ball too much. He has alright height, but needs to get stronger and add bulk to his slim figure. Harrell is very smart with a high football IQ and is truly a student of the game as he can often be found watching and studying film. He is more of a pocket passer than scrambler, but he does have the athleticism to make plays on his feet. Harrell spent his college career in shotgun formation and has trouble taking snaps from under center and dropping back. He has a 3/4 delivery and appears to sling the ball out of his hand, which isn’t good. Harrell is tough as he will stay in the pocket under pressure, but is also easily rattled.

BOTTOM LINE: An extremely productive college player, Harrell won’t have near the same success at the next level because of his lack of NFL arm strength, poor footwork, and needs a lot of work.
