SCOUTING REPORT

STRENGTHS: Natural athlete...Excellent awareness & instincts...Good mobility...Very good technique...Durable

WEAKNESSES: Still developing...Lacks mean streak & powerful anchor...Inconsistent feet...Plays too upright

OVERALL: A three year starter, Eben Britton redshirted in 2005 and became the starter in 2006 as a freshman, earning Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 honors. He started every game as a sophomore, earning Second Team All-Pac 10 honors, and every game as a junior this past season, earning First Team All-Pac 10 accolades. Britton started all 37 games throughout his career so although he could have used his senior year for seasoning, he has excellent experience under his belt. He is a very good athlete with nice mobility to slide side-to-side, but needs to improve his footwork and looks stiff at times. Britton has good size and has a frame to add bulk and get stronger. He sets up quickly off the snap and packs a punch at the POA. Britton shows above average technique and balance, but will also get lazy and play too upright at times. He has strong hands, but doesn’t have a powerful base and will get pushed back by bull rushers. Britton needs to show more aggressiveness and lacks a nasty and passionate mean streak. He played most of his career at right tackle and will fit best as an NFL tackle on the right side. Britton has excellent instincts and awareness. He is a very smart player and is easily coachable – the type of player that coaches will be able to develop further. Britton is more swift than fast and needs to keep his head down and his butt up. He gives great effort, motor, and has proven to be very durable throughout his career. Many differing opinions on this player which isn’t good.

BOTTOM LINE: Britton could have used another year in college, but has excellent experience, natural instincts, and raw intangibles to start in the NFL, but is probably limited to RT – first round material.
